How to Check & Verify a TRC20 Wallet Address
Before sending USDT or any TRC20 token to an address, it is always best practice to verify the address on a TRON blockchain explorer. This takes seconds and can prevent permanent loss of funds.
Using TRONSCAN to Verify an Address
- Go to tronscan.org in your browser.
- Paste the TRC20 wallet address into the search bar at the top of the page.
- Press Enter. The explorer will show whether the address exists on the TRON network.
- Review the address details: TRX balance, token holdings, and recent transaction history.
If the address is not found, it may belong to a different blockchain (such as Ethereum) or it may be incorrectly formatted.
What to Look for When Checking an Address
- Address starts with T — confirms it is a valid TRON address
- Transaction history — previous incoming/outgoing transfers confirm it is active
- USDT balance — shows existing USDT holdings if any
- Network label — in exchange interfaces, confirm "TRC20 (TRON)" is selected
When sending large amounts, always verify the first 4 and last 4 characters of the address on both the sending and receiving platforms before confirming.
Red Flags to Watch Out For
- Address starts with "0x" — this is ERC20, not TRC20
- Address is fewer or more than 34 characters
- Address contains special characters or spaces
- An exchange or wallet interface does not show "TRON" or "TRC20" as the selected network
