TRC20 Address Format & Example Explained

Understanding the TRC20 address format is essential before sending or receiving any funds on the TRON blockchain. An incorrect address format is one of the leading causes of lost cryptocurrency.

TRC20 Address Format

  • Starts with capital letter T
  • Exactly 34 characters in total
  • Alphanumeric (letters and numbers only)
  • Case-sensitive — copy addresses exactly as shown

TRC20 Address Example

A valid TRC20 address looks like this:

TRjE1H8dxypKM1NZRdysbs9wo7huR4bdNz

Or another example: T7z5Tf9jj1k2a4VZqL4mKjD6CZ1ePZa1w6

How TRON Addresses Are Generated

TRC20 addresses are derived from the wallet's private key using the TRON address encoding scheme. When you create a wallet in TronLink or Trust Wallet, the app generates a random private key, derives the public key, and then encodes it into a TRON-compatible Base58 address beginning with T.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Sending TRC20 tokens to an ERC20 address (starts with 0x)
  • Missing a character when typing an address manually — always copy/paste
  • Using an address from the wrong network on a withdrawal form
  • Sharing your private key or seed phrase — these are not the same as your wallet address
